Authentic Rugged Style 02

Words: Sherron Anderson Posted: 8 June, 2011

Timeless, rugged style, designed for function pure and simple: It’s these inherent qualities which, like the coat, have transcended time and remain at the core of Driza-Bone today. No gadgets, tricks or gimmicks, it’s just what we are ... We can’t help it. It’s in our DNA.  Every piece we make comes down to our solid foundations. If it doesn’t, then we would end up just like everyone else and what would be the point? Quality craftsmanship and techniques with the best fabrics and yarns goes into every item in our range, whether it’s a jacket, vest, knit, pant or shirt. Each has a true function and purpose - our heritage, our authenticity. And that’s our style, our rugged style.

There’s nothing else like a Driza-Bone coat with a tale to tell - with layers of history and storiesin grained into the weave and proudly displaying the battles and scars of times past, but still working and functioning despite the years, despite the wear.

Still Life is a collection of incredible photos taken from the inside of the base hut used by Scott and Shackleton in their exploration of the Antarctic in the early 1900s. The photos capture the raw beauty of the scenery along with the materials and textures that have remained virtually untouched for a century.

Lancefield Fruit Shed

Words: James Hunter Posted: 8 June, 2011

When I think of sheds, I picture blokes planning and puzzling over manly projects—typically involving lots of hammering, cutting, fitting and swearing—in the cool, earthy solitude of a space in which they can unleash their creative powers. Sheds are places in which things evolve and grow, but not without a generous amount of loving toil. And that is exactly what happens at Lancefield Fruit Shed, in the beautiful Victorian town of the same name, just north-east of popular tourist destination Woodend.
